Weekend Fun

This past weekend I was visiting with with friends, so busy in fact that mommy forgot to post about it! It all started on Friday when mommy watched my friends Rylee & Rayna. Their mommy is in MOMS Club with my mommy so I've played with them before. In fact, Rayna and I are in the same playgroup. But Friday they came to my house for a while to play while their mommy went to work. I sure had fun playing with them and showing them all my toys.

On Saturday mommy, daddy and I went to see my friend Maddy and her mommy & daddy. I hadn't seen her in a while so it was fun to catch up. Daddy was fixing their computer for them and we brought it back. I got to try out her high chair and play with some of her toys. I was so worn out from all this visiting that on Sunday daddy and I hung out and watched football together. But it was good to see my friends and catch up!

Here's Rylee, she and mommy colored pictures while Rayna and I played.

I'm showing Rayna my books that mommy keeps downstairs for me.

Here I am at Maddy's house playing with her rocking horse. From the look on my face I don't think I'm too sure about this thing!

Growing Up

This week has been a week of new things for me. First, I have started standing on my own for short periods of time. Usually it's when I'm helping mommy load dishes into the dishwasher and as she closes the dishwasher I hold onto it until I can't reach any more and then I'm standing! This morning I was helping mommy and I think I stood for about 12 seconds before I sat down.

Now mommy is starting to adjust my meals to get me to try new foods, and today I got to have whole milk for the first time, and boy did I like it!! Mommy wasn't sure if I would like it or not so she bought the smallest container of whole milk she could find. She put some in my sippy cup and I drank it all! ((Now mommy says we need to work on my gag reflex so I can start eating other foods.)) I now also get some soft baby "crackers" as mommy says, with each meal and those are really good now too.

Lastly, I'm continuing to walk a lot more now. I think I now understand the concept of shoes because they sure help me walk better on mommy's floors. I make laps around the kitchen and living room all day. It's so much fun to walk!! Mommy has a lot of videos of me walking and I wanted to share one, enjoy!

11 Months

Today I am 11 months old! Time has gone by very quickly for me and mommy and daddy will tell you it's gone by even faster for them. Mommy snapped some pictures of me tonight with daddy's help on some because I won't sit still.

Walking with daddy......maybe someday I'll be as tall as he is.

Getting my books out!

Ah....the naked, diaper picture. Daddy had to entertain me while mommy took the picture. I was only on the floor like this for about 3 seconds, then I was off again!

Mouse Toy

I have a lot of toys of my own that I like to play with, mommy will tell you that I have too many toys. But sometimes I get bored and need to play with something else. Recently I discovered that my big sister Rose has a lot of toys that she likes to play with too. Mommy keeps them in a little basket in a corner downstairs and I discovered they were there. I like to pull all of them out and throw them all over the living room. Rose usually comes down to watch me to make sure I don't do anything bad to her toys. One of her toys is a remote controlled mouse that goes all over the floor. Since I don't know how to operate the remote control, mommy decided to try it out for me yesterday and boy did I have fun!! That little mouse moves so fast and I chased it all over. So of course, mommy got the camera out to video tape me. She said it was hard holding onto the camera and the remote control at the same time, but she got it! I can't wait to play with this little mouse again!

Newspaper Ads

I know, I can't read yet. But that doesn't mean I can't start helping mommy and daddy shop for my birthday and Christmas gifts! Every Thursday mommy and daddy get our town newspaper and since I'm fascinated by paper, I decided to start looking through the ads to see what's out there.

Shopping already......

"OH!! Is this right? What a deal!!"

What a great way for me to start my lists!! I can't wait for the Thanksgiving ads, I hear there will be a lot of ads for me to look at then!

Remembering Fall

Anyone who knows my mommy should know that fall is her favorite time of year. She says she is already missing the fall leaves and colors. On one of the last really nice days in October ((it was Halloween actually)) mommy and I went for a long walk on the trails she and I go on. Mommy took me out of my stroller and I got to play in the leaves for a while. I wasn't so sure about them at first, but once I got used to them they were sure fun to play with! I wish I could play in the leaves some more, but we're already moving onto winter and this white stuff called snow. But in the meantime, here's some pictures to remember fall.

A few from the trails we walk on.

My very famous "O" face.....

"Um.....what are these?"

I sure like being outside, and these leaves aren't bad either!

Time to go!

New Shoes

Last week mommy took me shopping to get a new pair of shoes. These are my first real pair she says, and I'm not sure I like them. I had a pair of sandals I wore a few time this summer. But since I didn't move much they didn't bother me. I also have a pair of slippers that I wear a lot now and they don't bother me at all, except that they're a little bit. But my new shoes, they are taking me a while to get used too. Mommy and daddy make me wear them for at least half a day so that I can get used to them. We're on day three of having them and at least every ten minutes I have to stop and see if I can get them off my feet. Mommy took this video of me on Saturday. She had just gotten me dressed and put my shoes on and then she took me into her and daddy's room. I managed to crawl a few feet into their bathroom and then I planted my butt on the floor and wouldn't move!! I wasn't fussy or anything, I just don't understand what this shoe business is all about. This video is only about 30 seconds long, but I actually sat in their bathroom, in this one spot, for over 20 minutes. Eventually I started crawling again and we went downstairs. I mean really, are shoes necessary?

**Also check out my "SO BIG" game that I play, mommy taught me that one!

24 Hours of Change

Twenty-four hours ago I was sleeping, warm and comfy in my crib with my three animals that are always with me. Twenty-four hours ago I didn't know the history making changes that were going on around me. Twenty-four hours ago, mommy and daddy were downstairs flipping between CNN & NBC nervously awaiting the results they were hoping to hear. Twenty-four hours ago the words that mommy & daddy finally had hoped to hear for months finally came. "We have a new President Elect: Barack Obama."

Yesterday was a day of changes mommy says we will never forget. Daddy took the day off so that both he and mommy could go and vote. Daddy went early in the morning and mommy went later in the afternoon. While I can't yet vote and don't understand the meaning of needing 270 electoral votes to win, exit polling, debates, absentee ballots, Republican or Democratic, mommy & daddy say it's a day that changed America.

I feel lucky to live in a place where in 18 years I will have the opportunity to vote and possibly make the history making changes that took place yesterday. To know that one day, a little boy from Chaska, Minnesota could become a Senator or maybe even President of the United States makes me feel proud.

Twenty-four hours ago a change took place, a change that will live in the lives of every person in America for years to come. Twenty-four hours ago a new chapter in American history was written and I can't wait to one day read the book and learn about the great changes and new direction our country will be heading in.

Whether you are Republican or Democratic, we are all one and united. A new direction is being formed with new people leading us into the future. It's a future that will be filled with questions, hopes and dreams, but most of all it's a future of change. It's a future I'm excited to learn about and learn from.

Making Kisses

Since mommy is home with me all day long I try and copy a lot of what she says and does during the day. I like to play in the kitchen with her and help her open cupboards and make things. I try to help her clean and do laundry, but my favorite thing is to copy the faces that mommy makes at me. Today mommy and I were playing and she made kissing sounds with her lips and said for me to make kisses. I immediately figured out what she was doing and copied her. Mommy ran and got the camera and took some video's of me "making kisses." I don't know but I think it's pretty cute!

**On a side note, mommy and daddy says they hope everyone got a chance to get out and vote on what will be a historical election. We hope everyone took the opportunity to vote and make your voice heard!!**
