Helping Daddy

Yesterday we had a busy day. First we went to Verizon so that mommy and daddy could get new cell phones. I was fascinated by all the phones and wanted to touch them all and put them in my mouth. Lots of people came up to me and smiled and said I was very cute and many people asked mommy & daddy if I was always this content. Of course I am!!! Then we went to Target and I got a new car seat!! I haven't sat in it yet but it looks very comfortable. Mommy & daddy wanted to get me a new car seat because on Thursday we're leaving to go to South Dakota to see my grandpa and grandma! I'm very excited. Daddy has been telling me all about the farm that he grew up on and I get to go see it! So because of the long trip and that I've outgrown my old one, I got a new car seat. Then we came home and I took a little nap and then woke up and helped daddy put together his father's day gift. Mommy and I got him a tool chest so that he could organize his tools and have them in one place. ((Daddy said it might be more of a gift for mommy than for him....)) But I got to go down in our basement for the first time and that was exciting. Mommy said it's going to be a busy week packing and getting things ready for our trip. But I'm all set to go!

Second Date

Yesterday my friend Madeline came over to visit. My mommy and her mommy went to college together and have known each other a long time. So they had a lot to talk about. We all went out for lunch and were going to go for a walk but it was just to humid out mommy said. So instead we played inside and took pictures together. This could just be the beginning for us! ((Mommy says I can't start dating yet.))

"Moms" the Word

Mommy and daddy ((or mommy especially)) are very happy because I think totally by accident, I said my first word last night!!! Mommy and daddy had just sat down for dinner and mommy put me in my high chair so I could be there too because it was almost time for me to eat as well. I was playing in my high chair and doing this new sort of talking I started doing a few days ago, when my "ba-da-pla-la-ba" sounds suddenly changed and I said "mom"!! Both mommy and daddy stopped eating, looked at each other and then looked at me. They were terribly excited and kept asking each other if they really just heard me say mom. I haven't done it since but I guess that can count as my first word!! Mommy did take this video on Sunday night, it's a good start to how I am talking now. But no "moms" in this one!

Fun Outside

Yesterday after my three hour nap, mommy gave me my lunch and then she and I went for a walk. Mommy said it was a little warmer than she thought and there wasn't a good breeze. We didn't go for a long walk but it was good to get outside. After our walk mommy took pictures of me in my stroller in front of my house. Then I watched mommy water her flowers. It was fun to be outside but it was nice to get back into our air conditioned house! On Sunday my Aunty Chelle left to go back to Fargo but I got to go outside and swing with her and that was fun. It was cooler out that day so I was outside a lot. I think I'm starting to like that!!

Poked, Prodded & Tired

Today was my six month appointment and it wore me out! First mommy and daddy had to wake me up an hour before I normally wake up so we could go and I was very confused by that. Then we get there and I have to get all undressed and sit around in my diaper. Then I get poked and prodded, pushed on, looked at, listened to and then to top it all off.......I GET SHOTS!! I did not like that at all and I let everyone know it. But mommy says we won't have to have those for a while. I am 19 lbs 11 oz and 29 inches long. I am in the 75th percentile for weight and 97th percentile for length and now get a new car seat daddy says. Mommy is also excited to start giving me other foods. I've been eating carrots for a week now and I like them. Mommy says we finally mastered the cereal thing and I now open my mouth when fed and am now able to sit in my high chair to eat. So mommy says we get to go shopping for fun foods for me to try.

But all this activity today, and the last few days, just wore me out. I'm actually napping right now, I told mommy what to post before I fell asleep, and have been napping for almost three hours which is a record for me. On top of my doctor's appointment today I'm getting over a cold I got from daddy and am recovering from having people stay at my house for the last three weeks. I'm just trying to get back on track! But mommy says we can just lounge around and recover and just plain hang out and that's just perfect for me!

Sitting Up

Mommy is trying to have me practice sitting up more, I can sit up, but usually end up falling forward after just a few seconds. Last week when I visited my friends Beckett and Sam, Beckett has a boppy pillow that his mommy has him use to sit up. I got to try it and mommy thought that I should get one too so I could practice sitting up more. Mommy and I went to Target and she is very happy to say she found one for half the price of what they were selling for. So she bought it and I've been using it all week. I am working on sitting up and the boppy really helps me!

6 Months

Today I am six months old! Mommy & daddy still can't believe how fast time has gone by. I have my doctors appointment on Monday so we'll know how long I am and how much I weigh. Mommy measured me when I was five months and I was 28 inches long. She is sure I am at least 29 inches, or more, by now which means I have to get a new car seat. Daddy and papa John are guessing I'm close to 19 or 20 pounds. We'll find out soon enough!

I'm also sad today because my grandma and papa had to leave to fly back to Arizona. I will miss them a lot. But guess what!! They bought a house in Hutchinson, MN and are moving back here! I will get to see them again in August when they come back to do some house stuff. In the meantime, we took a lot of pictures together and had a lot of fun the last two weeks and have lots of fun memories now to share. I miss you grandma and papa!!

Grandma & papa bought me this when they visited Aunty Chelle in Fargo. Mommy took this picture last night. Daddy wants to cross out the word "Norwegian" and instead put "German". Mommy said no and she won....

Fun with Beckett & Sam

On Saturday mommy and I got to go and visit with her friends from college. Mommy had been telling me all about her friends and I was excited to meet them. I also got to meet my friends Sam and Beckett for the first time! Sam is quite a bit older than me, but he was really fun to look at and he likes to play with all sorts of fun things. Beckett was a lot of fun to look, and guess what! He is the same size as me! Beckett is just 12 days older than me and we have a lot in common. I was a little shy when we got there, mommy says that's okay, but soon I had warmed up and was ready to play. Then mommy got her camera out, boy did my mommy and Beckett's mommy take a lot of pictures! But mommy says that's how we can look back and remember things. She said that's how she looks back and remembers all the good times she had with her friends and how much she enjoys seeing them all and how much we miss them when they have to leave. But we had fun that afternoon and mommy now has a lot of pictures to look at and remember this visit by!

Have a heart

Mommy brought me upstairs with her just about 15 minutes ago so she could fold some laundry. She put me in my crib and I played for a little while. When she was done with the laundry she came to check on me and found me like this. Mommy says I have her heart right in the palm of my hand......

Baptism

WHEW, What a weekend!! Sunday was my baptism and I had a lot of fun and it went really well. My baptism was outside at a park and aside from these little bugs called mosquito's which mommy says I will get to know real soon, it went well!! I got to see all of my aunts, uncles and cousins and a lot of friends. Mommy & daddy said I did real well with all the people at our house, but boy am I tired. Yesterday mommy, daddy, my Aunty Chelle and I all went house hunting with my grandma and grandpa from Arizona and it was a long day for me. Today I took several long naps and had fun just staying at home. The best part is my grandma and grandpa are here to play with me this whole week and we are going to have lots of fun. Everything went well and I want to thank everyone who came to help me celebrate. Mommy, daddy and I hope you all had fun!

Baptism Kick-Off...

Tomorrow is my baptism and mom & dad have been getting ready for it for weeks. Yesterday my Aunt Tammy and Uncle Brad arrived all the way from Indiana! They are my godparents along with my Aunty Chelle (mommy's sister) who arrived on Thursday. We had lots of fun playing; that is, once I warmed up to them. It took me a while. My cousin Autumn was lots of fun to play with. She is small and very pretty to look at. She had this really funny pony-tail holder in her hair that I thought was just hysterical. She would make it move and I just laughed and laughed!

Mommy says we will have a lot of pictures to show of tomorrow so everyone should check back soon! (But mommy says to give her a little time to get the pictures uploaded and to be patient.) I just know mom & dad say this is a very special day just for me and it will be full of memories!

Sleeping Beauty...

Mommy and I have been busy today! Sunday is my baptism and tomorrow is when people start arriving. So mommy has been doing laundry, mopping floors and cleaning. It just wore me out and I fell asleep in mommy's arms when she was feeding me. She put me in my crib and went back downstairs. I woke up a little while later and was talking to myself in my room. Mommy finished what she was doing and then came upstairs to do another load of laundry. She didn't hear me talking anymore and when she came in my room she found me like this! I roll over all the time now but this is the first time I rolled over on my tummy and fell asleep. Mommy took a picture and I then woke up right after she took it. I think it might be time for the bumper to come off!

Busy Weekend

Mommy, daddy and I had a busy weekend. Daddy had to work most of the day on Saturday so mommy and I hung out that day. I helped her clean house and do laundry. On Sunday, we loaded the car and headed off to a place called Babies-R-Us to shop. Mommy and daddy say it's a place with far too many things parents don't need, but they buy it anyway. Mommy said we needed to get me a new bathtub, a highchair and something special to wear for my baptism. We were there for quite a while but we got everything we needed, and a little more. My least favorite part was when we went to the shoe section and mommy and daddy had me try on shoes. I'm pretty sure we were there for 30 minutes. Mommy and daddy say I have big feet and the tops of my feet are very large. Daddy says I inherited this gene from my grandpa in Arizona. Mommy and daddy kept getting different shoes in all sizes before finally finding the right pair that fit!

I also got my highchair. It's in the jungle theme so it matches my jumperoo, bouncy seat and my jungle mat. I get to sit in it a lot. Mommy sets it up in the kitchen so I can help her wash bottles and make dinner. Mommy doesn't think I'm quite ready to eat my cereal in it yet. They still have to do all sorts of things to get me to laugh, smile or open my mouth so I can be fed. So it's much easier to fed me in my bouncy seat right now. But the good news is that I am now eating all my cereal and I like it! Someone suggested mommy use apple juice to make the cereal instead of formula. Mommy tried it and boy did I like it!! Mommy says that now that we have that problem fixed we can concentrate on having me open my mouth when I am fed. She makes me watch a video of my friend Beckett eating in hopes I will soon be a pro like him.
